Shocked and Appauled

I was really shocked the other day at school some of my students were talking about the 'bad' things they have done and were asking me what 'bad' things I had done.  I said that I had been pulled over by the police when I was on my bike for not signalling properly at a roundabout!  Then one of the girls said 'thats nothing, I was arrested for shoplifting and spent four hours in a cell when I was 13'.  I was really shocked at this and other pupils began telling stories of when they had stoled things from shops.
I really could not believe what I was hearing, since when did it become ok to shoplife?  Since when did it  stealing to be something become and thing you are not ashamed of, even something you are proud of!
The students were saying that I hadn't lived because I hadn't stolen anothing and that it was an adrenaline rush.

What is the world coming to?! I was brought up to believe that stealing was wrong and thus is something that I have never done.  What do they teach these kids at school?

Spiritual sunday

Just a quick one for tonight, I am so tired from a busy weekend and need some sleep!
At church this morning we sang the hymn 'In Christ Alone' which I love.  I particularly enjoy this verse:

No guilt in life, no fear in death,

This is the power of Christ in me,
From life's first cry to final breath,
Jesus commands my destiny,
No power of hell, no scheme of man,
Can ever pluck me from His hand,
'Till He returns or calls me home,
Here in the power of Christ I'll stand.

I love the thought of 'no guilt in life, no fear in death', I am coming to really believe this even more these days.  Also 'no power of hell, no scheme of man can ever pluck me from his hand'.  After a rather bad week at work this line reminds me that nothing anybody does or says to me can change how much God loves me and what he did for me.

Have a great week everyone,
Helen

Lovely things

Hello there, you look so lovely today!

Feeling a bit funny today, a bit emotional, perhaps the worst mood to be in when going shopping as the likelihood of impulse purchases goes up ten fold.
We need an ironing board because ours broke, we want one of these:
Beacuse it's made of wood like my grandmothers that my mother now has, and plus the one that broke was made a metal so I sense these are less reliable.

Sadly they didn't have it in House of Fraser, but I did stumble of this absolutely beautiful, too-gorgeous-not-to-buy note book (you know my note book fetish don't you):

Note the birds, bird cage, cup cake and tea cup.  All things that I am currently besotted with.  So I bought it for a whopping £9.00.  It did cheer me up though.  Now I can fantasise about all the wonderful poetry and observations that I could write in it.  (Though I will probably just add it to my ever growing stash of beautiful note books, oh the potential.)

Then we walked past Miss Selfridge, and I spotted a delightful Mori-girl-style range of clothing, I did que up to try some on, I qued for about 10 minutes with my poor husband rolling his eyes, only one person came out of the changing room in that time so I decided not to bother and stormed off out of the shop.  The I felt really silly for queing and wanting things and I cried! (Told you I was a bit funny today).  Ah well, here are some of the lovely things I saw and can't afford!

Gorgeous no?  I am now trying to plan in my head how I can somehow aquire these items or something like them.  Fabric shops of Berkshire watch out!!

Have a lovely evening darlings.

Doggie doo doo dilema

Hi everyone,

Today I went onto my school field and has a little walk about.  Around the edge of the field is a high fence, and on the other side of the fence is a footpath.  Imagine my disgust when I discovered that, littered all the way along the fence were little doggie poo baggies with poos in them, people ha been slinging their dog's poos over the fence in the absence of a poo bin!!  It was really gross.
What I really can't understand is...why bother picking up your dog's poo and putting it into a bag when you are then going to sling it over a fence into a school playing field!?  It's a very strange double standard to me.
Here is the evidence:
